Schneider Electric has announced the release of its new APC Back-UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) BE Series featuring 900VA and 1050VA (Volt-Ampere) models. These new models come with increased power capacity over existing models and range from 850 to 900VA and 1050VA respectively.

Citing increased demands for uninterrupted connectivity in the smart home, Schneider states that these new power supplies serve neatly as backups for computers, routers and modems, as well as security cameras and other devices.

The new Back-UPS BE Series models also provide surge protection to connected devices, in addition to serving as direct battery backup.

According to Schneider, the Back-UPS can deliver over 100 minutes of runtime for network devices when power is fluctuating outside of expected levels. Devices can also be stacked on top of the UPS to help conserve space.

Two USB (Type A and Type C) charging ports allow for the charging of mobile devices and tablets, and a removable lead-acid battery that allows for easy replacement.

The UPS also features a power button display that signals UPS status with green indicating normal operation, yellow when attention is needed and red when the battery is either overloaded or needs replacement. An alarm will also notify users on low-battery, though this can be silenced via a mute button on the device.

The Back-UPS BE series 900/1050VA line also comes with PowerChute Serial Shutdown, an energy monitoring and configuration software that helps users save on their utility bills and is Energy Star certified in accordance with UPS specifications.
